Guided Motorcycle Tours

About Us

British Bike Tours was formed in 2006, our first tour was the "Bridge in the Sky" through central France to the Millau Bridge.  Since then we have operated hundreds of tours from short weekend breaks to the Vosges Mountains and Black Forest to full blown adventure tours in the Indian Himalaya and Nepal.  We were one of the first companies to take customers to the Balkans and Bosnia - at that time the roads would pass between minefields!  These have now all been cleared.  We also pioneered an Alps trip which takes you from the Vosges mountains all the way down to the Mediterranean Sea and coastal town of Menton.  We first did this trip in 2006 - it is now a regular destination for many motorcycle tour operators.

British Bike Tours has six team members, Peter, Lorraine, Raz, Nigel, Simon and of course Merlin.  We are all kindred spirits born in the 60's,  we all met whilst motorcycling (apart from Merlin - of course).  Motorcycling and in particular motorcycle touring is our passion and we want to share this passion with you.

Peter  - Operations Director & Guide

I started British Bike Tours in 2006.  The idea of starting a motorcycle touring company first began in 2000 when I rode a Royal Enfield in India, I did this again in 2003.  By 2006 I took the plunge and began our first website - my goodness how technology has moved on from those early days - customers used to have to send us cheques to pay for their holidays!!!

I currently ride a 2021 Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX and 2018 Suzuki V-Strom DL1000, 2022 Triumph Tiger Sport 660 and 2022 Triumph Trident 660.

My favourite tours are our Morocco tour and our Himalaya tour.  They are both very challenging but fantastic fun.

Lorraine

Lorraine - Medical Director & Customer Services

Lorraine provides and organises our medical support on our adventure tours - she is a very experienced clinical pharmacist and lead clinician.  She is qualified to prescribe and also provides vaccinations.

Lorraine has been riding bikes for over 25 years.  She has ridden all over Europe and India including the Himalaya and Nepal.  Her current bikes are a Ducati Monster and a Ducati Diavel Carbon  - she also likes to ride old Enfields with a right hand sided gear change and left side rear brake!!!

Alan - Guide

Alan has been riding for over 30 years and has organised many tours for friends and groups all over Europe and the Balkans. He has ridden bikes in Australia and South East Asia and has been on several off road Jungle treck's in Thailand and Vietnam.
After retiring from 30 years in the Police, he took off for a couple of months on a solo tour and rode from Scotland to Turkey, just to buy Saffron in the Spice Bazaar in Istanbul and take a dawn ballon ride in Cappodoccia. We all have our bucket lists.
Alan has more recently been travelling to India and has ridden on both our Southern India and Himalayan Tours, before joining us to guide in both India and Morocco.
He rides an Africa Twin and AJP PR7.

Raz Image

Raz - Guide

Raz has been riding since the late 1970's.  Raz is a very experienced Tour Guide.  He started touring in the 80's but then in 1992 had a fairly serious bike accident which resulted in the loss of his right leg. However, nothing keeps Raz and his indomitable spirit down and it wasn't long before he was back riding and has since toured around Australia, Nepal, Vietnam, Morocco and in Europe from the top of Norway down to Sicily and most points between. The Balkans is his favourite place to tour in Europe. He started working as a guide in 2012 for British Bike Tours and has also guided for a couple of other tour operators.

He currently rides a Suzuki 650 V-strom.

Nigel - Guide

Nigel has been riding bikes since the early 1980’s. Nigel is an experienced tour guide, having worked for other tour operators. His travels have taken him through parts of India, most of Europe and New Zealand. India comes top of his most favourite places to visit. Nigel is a Rospa advanced tutor and currently rides for the blood bikes as well as working for British Triathlon as a motorcycle official.  He is also a keen photographer.

He currently rides a BMW R1250RT

Simon - Guide

Simon has been riding for over 30 years. He is Ex Military where he was trained as a motorcyclist. He has recently retired from the Police where he was a Class One Advanced Motorcyclist and is now working for a local bike school delivering Compulsory Basic Training courses. He has always been keen to enhance his riding skills, being an IAM member for over 15 years and has enjoyed track days, knee down courses, motorcycle marshalling to name just a few. Simon also enjoys staying fit having qualified as a Personal Trainer and also enjoys diving having qualified as a Master Scuba Diver.

Simon has just taken delivery of a new Yamaha Tracer 9GT+ in preparation for some serious touring.
